The Grass Is Always Greener

Wow, this blog post is insanely overdue. I had no intentions of ignoring this site for this long. It was just that I had a tad bit going on in my world. And for once, I was the bride!

So to give you a bit of the back story, in the course of three weeks, Ryan and I moved out of our old house, lived with the then future in-laws, got married, went on a honeymoon and moved into our new house. Are we crazy? Absolutely. I would not recommend that to anyone, but it has made life quite exciting lately.

They say the grass is always greener on the other side, but even after being the bride, I still can’t decide which I like better. Of course, I loved our wedding day, and it was so fun getting to dress up and celebrate our relationship. But, I also felt like it was such a whirlwind of a day. Now I understand what people mean when they tell you to soak it up. And getting around to every guest is quite a challenge (especially when you have 250 guests…). And to be honest, I am so not used to being the center of attention!

As a coordinator, I’ve realized I tend to notice all the small details. I have time to ooh and ahh over the personal touches. And during speeches, I get to soak up all the reactions and expressions people make as the MOH and BM share their memories. So it’s a complete toss up whether I prefer to be the bride or hang in the background.

However, now, even more than before, I feel I have a better outlook and larger knowledge of weddings and their preparation. So stay tuned for tips I discovered during my experience as a bride!
